MUSE PROGRAMMING

David Lee Conducting Program

Description: This program aims to help music directors gain skills that will level up their conducting abilities. Through a series of modules with accomplished industry conductors, participants in the program will leave with new skills and confidence in their abilities in both stick and piano conducting.

Who: This program is open to MUSE Members who are able to attend in-person sessions in NYC.

Commitment: We will be holding an in-person program 2 hours twice a week for 5 weeks.

Dates to hold are: Monday 2/3, Saturday 2/8, Monday 2/17, Saturday 2/22, Monday 3/3, Saturday 3/8, Monday 3/17, Saturday 3/22, Monday 3/31, Saturday 4/5

Modules:

Week 1- Basic stance and beat patterns; baton technique 

Week 2- Basic beat patterns from the podium and the piano; cueing entrances 

Week 3- Introducing more advanced beat patterns; score study techniques 

Week 4- Giving feedback to musicians in real time; leadership skills 

Week 5- Conducting with live musicians
