Mentorship Program

MUSE is delighted to announce our Inaugural Mentorship Program. These two initiatives are the first of many ongoing opportunities MUSE will be creating to ensure a more equitable pipeline is available to all current and future theatre music makers of color.

MUSE One-on-One : A 6 month mentorship program. The mentorship class of 2021 will have approximately 15 members.

The Piano Intensive: A 3 week program of group classes and personalized learning sessions.

Eligibility: The MUSE Mentorship Program is for members of the MUSE Directory (if you’re not a member, you can join here). Applicants must have strong work ethic; an ability to work well with others; and be 18 years of age or over.

MUSE One-on-One is for you if you are:

  • An Early-mid career musician
  • Have ability & availability to meet via phone or video call once a month

The Piano Experience is for you if you:

  • Foresee a world where the piano is a major part of your musical life
  • Are an experienced pianist

Applicants who are based anywhere in the world are encouraged to apply, keeping in mind not only where applicants are currently located, but potential relocation options.

MUSE mentors and mentees will meet virtually at least once a month. Applicants will be paired with mentors from the Founding Membership and experts among the MUSE membership based on areas of interest, skills desired, as well as the preferences and expertise of the mentors. This program will provide an opportunity for MUSE members to spend valuable one-on-one time together and develop a relationship with a mentor that will hopefully carry on past the official six-month timeframe. Participants can select individual music disciplines such as music composition, vocal arrangements, music direction, orchestration, and more.

Program will take place July – December, 2021

Application deadline June 18th

The Piano Experience

The Piano Experience is a three-week intensive where our Founding Members, led by Alex Lacamoire and Tom Kitt, will lead selected members of MUSE through a virtual series of challenging and educational sessions, seeking to expand the range and repertoire of these incredible musicians. It is a rare opportunity to be part of a piano masterclass that is certain to be inspiring for all. Selection will be by audition only.

Program will take place July 8-31, 2021

Application deadline June 24th
