Biography

Zazie Productions, Asheville’s clandestine autistic polymath, seamlessly shifts between roles as a multi-instrumentalist, avant-garde composer, sound artist, graphic designer, and off-kilter short filmmaker. Meanwhile, @WellMeaningNeurotypicals, his viral neurodivergent-oriented satire persona, is known for a subversive humorous mental health commentary.

His audaciousness was apparent early on. Commissioned by Black Mountain College at just 14, he took on Erik Satie’s “Gymnopédie No. 1,” reimagining it with musique concrète techniques. The result was “Cheaper Impressions” (2021) an acclaimed multifaceted homage to John Cage’s
“Cheap Imitation” which became a standout track on his 2020 EP, Stutter to stammer.

You can hear the unhinged theatrics of Frank Zappa pirouette around the stark, visceral emotionality of Joy Division. 12-piece horn sections unleash tempestuous fanfares, colliding with vacuum cleaner orchestral scores. The lachrymose strings of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, are pierced by the alpine bangs of concrete percussion,
and cinematic grandeur of Danny Elfman.
It is a sanctuary for the musically apostate, a hymn to the discordant beauty that resides on the fringes.
