Tristan Alberto Shafran

Biography

Tristan Shafran is a woodwind doubler in the NJ/NYC area. As a woodwind doubler, I perform on saxophones, clarinets, flutes, oboe, and english horn.

Very interested in touring opportunities.

I received my Bachelor of Music Education in Instrumental Music with an emphasis in Saxophone Performance from Rutgers University Mason Gross in 2021. During my time at Rutgers, I studied saxophone with Dr. Paul Cohen.

Following my undergraduate graduation, I taught for 2 years in the classroom instrumental music setting and freelanced throughout New Jersey. In 2023 I enrolled at Montclair State University to pursue a Master of Music in Woodwind Doubling. During my time at Montclair State, I studied saxophone with Chad Smith, clarinet with KeriAnn Dibari, flute with Janet Arms, and oboe with Dr. Lillian Copeland.

I perform in a variety of big bands and horn sections around the tri-state area as well as in pit orchestras at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, NJ. Currently, I work as a woodwind instrument repair technician as an apprentice of Dan Sagi at O DiBella Music in Bergenfield, NJ.

Thank you for checking out my biography. Hope to work with you!
