Sio (Shio) Tepper
Biography
Sio/Shio is a multi-instrumental performer, composer, singer-songwriter, music and artistic director, vocal director, recording artist, lyricist and educator. She is currently based in New York City and originally from Santa Barbara, California, and is actively working throughout California and New York. She is currently attending the Berklee College of Music NYC, pursuing an M.A. in Creative Media and Technology with an emphasis in Writing and Design for Musical Theatre, and graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2014 with a degree in Ethnomusicology. With extensive formal training in classical piano and substantial experience in various genres, Shio is fluent in many styles on piano, keys, guitar, and voice.
Shio is passionate about the ways in which creative expression and music can be a vessel for promoting and creating social equity and interpersonal healing. Her creative and professional work is rooted in this passion and the desire to continue to give back to the creative community that helped her to become who she is today.
