Simón Gómez Villegas

Simón Gómez Villegas

Biography

SIMÓN GÓMEZ VILLEGAS (he/she/they) is a burgeoning multidisciplinary artist from Bogotá, Colombia, recently graduated from Oklahoma City University with degrees in Musical Theatre and Music Composition.

Simón wrote music, book and lyrics for his first full length work: KEEP ME IN MIND: a sweeping and vibrant contemporary musical about a woman who must reckon with her past, present, and future as she balances how to be both a caretaker to her fading mother and a partner to her loving wife. Workshopped in two staged readings at OCU and featured with the Latiné Musical Theatre Lab, the musical is currently undergoing major rewrites, but there’s no telling how much more it’ll grow and where it’ll go! Simón also writes original music for Shakespeare plays and sonnets, and they are currently working on an indie folk/cinematic pop EP to be hopefully released this year.

Aside from being a composer, Simón is an adaptable actor/musician who has played both piano and guitar in a wide range of settings, such as a dinner theatre, a children’s theatre tour, and early childhood enrichment programs.
