Selina Liu
Biography
Selina Liu is a third-year student at Northwestern University pursuing a BA in theatre and music and a minor in music education. As a pianist, she is proficient in jazz, classical, and pop styles. Selina has worked as a music director, pit musician, accompanist, composer, and orchestrator in numerous musical theatre productions at the university. She is the music director for Community Singers, Northwestern’s premier barrier-free, philanthropy-oriented choir, and the keyboardist in two bands. She collaborated in the 92nd and 93rd annual Waa-Mu show, the largest student-written and performed musical theatre tradition in the country. Last year, she was the music director at Citadel Theatre’s education programs for the production of Matilda Jr. and the Broadway 2000s Intensive. She is independently developing a documentary-style rock musical this summer as a recipient of Northwestern’s Summer Undergraduate Research Grant. She is interning in the music theatre industry in Paris in the fall. As a feminine-presenting queer musician of color, she is always looking for role models in the industry while aspiring to be a role model for underrepresented musicians in the future.
