Biography

Selina Liu is an interdisciplinary music composer and director with professional experience in the United States, Canada, and France.

Selina was the assistant conductor at the Orchestre Lamoureux in Paris from September to December 2024. She has participated in the production of five mainstage concerts, including symphonic adaptations of the works of Charles Aznavour and Bernard Lavilliers at the Philarmonie de Paris, and have written arrangements for the orchestra’s education programs.

During the summer 2023 season, Selina was the music director at Citadel Theatre in Lake Forest, IL in the production of Matilda Jr. and the Broadway 2000s musical theatre intensive program. She has since opened a musical theatre voice and audition coaching studio for beginning actors.

Selina is currently a student at Northwestern University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in theatre and music, and a minor in music education. She has worked as a music director, pit musician, accompanist, composer, and orchestrator in numerous musical theatre productions at the university, including the 92nd and 93rd Annual Waa-Mu show, the largest student-written and performed musical theatre tradition in the country. She is the music director for Community Singers, Northwestern’s premier barrier-free philanthropy choir, and the keyboardist in two bands. As a pianist, she is comfortable playing jazz, classical, pop, and musical theatre styles. She is independently developing a documentary musical as a recipient of Northwestern’s Summer Undergraduate Research Grant as the composer, lyricist, book writer, and orchestrator.
