Biography

Patricia Billings is a New York City based, classically trained woodwind doubler and educator whose eclectic work encompasses Classical, R&B, and Jazz whose primary instrument is clarinet.

Ms. Billings is a sought after orchestral performer, having performed with the renowned American Composers Orchestra, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, The Bergen Symphony Orchestra, The Re-Collective Orchestra, subbed with Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, among many others.

She is also an active soloist and chamber ensemble performer, having made her solo debut at the world renowned Kennedy Center. She has performed with the Regina Opera Company serving as principal clarinetist, The Lighthouse Bronx Opera Company, Manhattan Opera Company, The Harlem Chamber Players, Composer’s Concordance, and many more.

Ms. Billings is also a nationally respected, New York State K-12 certified music educator and clinician and is the founding Director Of Music at KIPP Washington Heights Middle School, serving as the Electives Department chairperson. She has also served in various capacities for arts organizations around the New York tri-state area such as the The Youth Orchestra Of St. Luke’s,The New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and the Harmony Program of New York.

Other live and studio work includes collaborations with Grammy Award winners Solange Knowles playing bass clarinet and flute, clarinet with the Imani Winds chamber ensemble, clarinet with jazz vibraphonist Stefon Harris, and clarinet with Grammy nominated jazz French horn player John Clark. She also served as woodwind doubler with the Broadway Sinfonietta and recorded on tenor saxophone for the noted Broadway and studio bassist Lucio Hopper.
