Miguel Esteban

Biography

Miguel Esteban is a Canadian/American music director, pianist, and violinist currently based in Toronto, Canada. Currently a student in the MA MT (Musical Direction) Program at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, he is a graduate of the University of Toronto (UofT), holding a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. He also received his Master’s in Teaching from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE).

Most recently, he was the Music Director for the 2022-23 Theatre Season at the Oshawa Little Theatre (OLT) where he music directed Putting It Together, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, and Disney’s Descendants. Other music directing credits include work with Mansfield Entertainment (Peter Pan: The New British Musical, Cinderella The Panto: Step Sisters’ Revenge, Spongebob the Musical) and the OLT Mainstage Season and Summer Youth Program (Seussical, Annie Jr., Frozen Jr., Camp Rock, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, James and the Giant Peach).

As a pianist, violinist, and rehearsal pianist, some credits include: The Bridges of Madison County, Next to Normal, Evita, The Fantasticks, Crazy for You (Scarborough Music Theatre); Heathers (We Are Here Productions); Dogfight, Little Women (First Act Productions); Mamma Mia!, We Will Rock You (Mansfield Entertainment), Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Matilda, Legally Blonde, The Little Mermaid (OLT).

Miguel combined his passion for education and musical theatre as the 2022/23 Director of Education at the OLT, by founding and leading their first Youth Theatre Orchestra, which gave young musicians the opportunity to learn about musical theatre pit playing, attend various workshops related to musician health and pit playing, work with professional musicians and conductors, and perform in the pit for a live show at the end of the year.
