Biography

Miguel Sutedjo is a musical theater writer, music director, actor, and educator. As an Indonesian American of Chinese descent, Miguel aspires to tell international and interdisciplinary stories that make people feel seen. As a playwright, composer, and lyricist, he premiered Fly Me Away at the Museum of Chinese in America (NYC) and Mulan: A Children’s Musical at the “Flowers in Changhua” Festival (Taiwan). He also was a 2024 Songbyrd Demo Funding Recipient. As music director for “The Prom” at Mt. Tabor Arts Collaborative (New Jersey), he was nominated for the 2023 BroadwayWorld New Jersey Award for “Best Music Direction & Orchestra Performance.” As an actor, favorite credits include Mati in “The Memory Brigade” (The Motor Company) and P.B. Jones in Illegal: A New Musical (YAYA Kids Theater). He was a 2023-2024 Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Taiwan. Currently, he works as an accompanist with the National Dance Institute and studies as a composer in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop.
