Biography

Lour Yasin, known mononymously as LOUR, is a Palestinian lyricist, composer, and performer. Born in Jerusalem, she studied Voice and Oud at the Edward Said Conservatory of Music. She is the first Palestinian recipient of the Lin-Manuel Miranda Fellowship (2022) and the Rim Banna Award for Music Production (2023), and has received six U.S. awards for her contributions to theatre and music, including the William W. Kleinhandler Prize and the Ruth Scott Sanford Memorial Prize. In 2024, she was named one of the Arabs 30 Under 30 by the Arab America Foundation and is currently a NEST Incubator and SoundLab finalist with Jafra Productions.

After a stint writing Arab pop hits for some of the biggest stars in the Arab region, Lour brought her genre-fusion style from East to West, where she quickly established herself as one of the freshest Arab pop voices on the NYC scene.

She is currently developing three musicals: Under the Sheet (IRT Theatre/Moxie Incubator), a groundbreaking fusion of hip-hop, rap, Latin, and mariachi; The Happy Sunshine Facility, a folk-pop musical about a wellness center for young women; and AREA D, the first Arab pop musical, blending Broadway melodies with Arab pop and Middle Eastern classical sounds. *AREA D recently had a concert presentation on the Ars Nova Off-Broadway stage as part of ANT Fest 2025.

As a music director, Lour led the debut of One Thousand and One Nights at the Ramallah Cultural Palace in the West Bank, where her direction of both rock band and Middle Eastern orchestra was met with acclaim.
