Biography
Lina Breining is an NYC based composer and orchestrator for film, theatre, and animation from Austin, TX. Her music has been featured at Academy Award-qualifying film festivals, and venues such as the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts and USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. She was recently selected as a 2025-2026 mentee of the SCL (Society of Composers and Lyricists) New York mentorship program. Earlier this year, Lina scored her first feature film and attended its premiere in Los Angeles. She has also collaborated with an animator at Pixar whose short film was selected for The Rising Artist series by PBS. Additionally, Lina has worked for 3 consecutive years as an orchestra production assistant on the Tony Awards.
Lina holds a Master of Music in Music Theory and Composition: Screen Scoring from New York University (’24), and two bachelor’s degrees (B.S in Fine Arts and B.A. in Music Composition) from the University of Texas at Austin (’22). When she’s not busy writing, Lina can be found exploring a new park or attempting to pet the nearest dog.
