Lexi Bodick
Biography
Lexi Bodick is an electric and upright bassist, certified educator, and Trust & Safety Policy Specialist based in NYC.
Lexi’s sound manifests an eclectic multicultural childhood soundtracked in her abuelos kitchens with Mexican music, living room dance parties of 80’s new wave, roots reggae, the Grateful Dead, funk, and rock. Originally from Connecticut, Lexi graduated cum laude from the University of Connecticut where she holds three degrees: M.A. Curriculum and Instruction (Music), B.S. Education, B.A. Music Performance, studying jazz and classical bass with Gregg August,.
Lexi is a versatile musician actively involved in both the pop, rock, latin, and musical theater scenes. She has a record coming out in Fall 2023 with her long-time bandmate/producer, Nick Zanca, under American Dreams Records; a record of experimental pop music that draws on a vast number of traditions and genres such as avant-garde, jazz improvisation, ambient, psychadelic-pop, and rock. She has toured with Sony artist, Tess Druckenmiller, performing at the Nashville Food & Music Festival and the CMJ Music Festival. Lexi enjoys celebrating the rich diversity of her Latina heritage, playing for performing for the Playbill Songwriter Series for Hispanic Heritage Month with Jonathan Larson Grant recipient, Jaime Lozano & La Familia.
In the musical theater realm, Lexi has originated the bass chair for two Broadway shows, Shucked (Grammy Nominated Original Broadway Cast Album) and Jason Robert Brown’s, 13 the musical (Original Broadway Cast Album). She has performed on NPR’s Tiny Desk, Late Night with Stephen Colbert, and the Today show with Shucked. She has also originated an Off-Broadway bass chair, Darling Grenadine (Roundabout Theatre Company). She has toured across the USA and Canada with the 1st National Tour of Waitress. Lexi has shared the stage with many legendary voices such as seven-time Grammy Nominee Brandy Clark, Tony-award winning actor Alex Newell, Desi Oakley, Christine Dwyer, Solea Pfeiffer, Javi Muñoz, and Mandy Gonzalez. An active sub in the NYC Theater scene, her Broadway subbing credits include Waitress and SIX.
In addition to a music career, Lexi is a Trusty & Safety Policy Specialist passionate about educational equity and multicultural education.
