Biography

Kennen Butler is a creative and multi-hyphenate born in Flint, MI, but raised in Newburgh, NY.  Acting credits include the the national tour and revival of  Seussical the Musical directed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge, Hairspray,  Man #1 in Songs for a New World  music directed by AJ Rafael, and Tommy among many others. ​They served as a Creative Consultant for Universal Studios Osaka, director/choreographer for a small Japanese production company called Team Utsubo . They have also been a headliner for Celebrity Cruise Line, and performed with the likes of Barry Pearl, the original Doody from the film Grease.​

In 2017 they were selected by Paul Roberts (choreographer of artists such as One Direction, The Spice Girls, Katy Perry, and more), Jill Hillier (choreographer of Ricky Martin, Gwen Stefani, Nicki Minaj, and more) and Keith Young (choreographer on the film Rent, Bette Midler, En Vogue, and more) to be a lead vocalist for a string of brand new shows for Carnival Cruise Line.

They served as the Musical Theater director at The Real School of Music as well as teaching private voice lessons at the school. Their Band, Kennen Jakhan & The Story, has seen success both on US Soil and in Japan. They are an artist in residence for the American Legacy Theatre, currently writing and composing the original musical “Bridge City”. They are pursuing their MFA in Musical Theatre Writing at NYU Tisch.
