Biography
Juan Carlos Rodríguez is a Puerto Rican guitarist, music director, conductor, composer, and educator whose career spans more than three dozen musical theater productions and international performance venues.
As a music director, his credits include Evita, Into the Woods, Alice by Heart, Shrek, The Addams Family, Rock of Ages, RENT, Frozen, and School of Rock. As a guitarist, he has performed in productions such as West Side Story, In the Heights, On Your Feet, Cabaret, Spring Awakening, The Phantom of the Opera, The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, Sister Act, Next to Normal, and School of Rock, among others. His work reflects a wide stylistic range, from rock-driven contemporary scores to traditional Broadway orchestration.
Rodríguez also tours as guitarist and background vocalist for Grammy-winning artist Ednita Nazario, with performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, House of Blues, Lehman Center, Coliseo de Puerto Rico, and other major venues. His studio and live collaborations include Luis Fonsi, Il Divo, José Feliciano, Tommy Torres, Gilberto Santa Rosa, the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, and many others.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Music Education and serves as Academic Leader of the Music Program at Universidad del Sagrado Corazón, where he leads curriculum, faculty, ensembles, and professional training initiatives for emerging musicians. His work bridges musical theater, live performance, higher education, and the continued development of Puerto Rico’s musical theater ecosystem.
