Jordan Owen
Biography
Jordan Christopher Owen is a multifaceted musician, conductor, composer, and orchestrator whose passion for music began in the vibrant atmosphere of a church youth choir, where he discovered the transformative power of music. Raised in Flagler County, Florida, Jordan’s early musical influences spanned from the soul-stirring melodies of negro spirituals to the rhythmic beats of R&B and rap.
While his early interests were divided between music and sports, Jordan’s unwavering dedication to music led him to pursue formal education at the Petrie School of Music at Converse University. Currently studying Music Composition and Cello studies, he continues to deepen his musical knowledge and expand his creative horizons.
In addition to his studies, Jordan has emerged as a talented composer and orchestrator, bringing his unique voice and perspective to the world of contemporary music. His compositions, which draw inspiration from a diverse range of musical genres and traditions, reflect his deep emotional connection to the human experience and his commitment to exploring new musical avenues.
Jordan’s journey into conducting has been marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a commitment to lifelong learning. He has studied conducting privately and participated in workshops across the country, including the Maestri Series Workshop with Maestro Gary Lewis and The Art of Conducting Workshop with Maestro David Rudge. Mentored by esteemed figures such as John Young Shik Conklin and Maestro Gary Lewis, Jordan has honed his craft and developed a unique conducting style marked by clarity, precision, and a deep connection to the music.
In 2024 Jordan founded the Calm Cadence Collective. A chamber orchestra and collective of brave musicians who are striving to create a music community through performance and collaborative projects. Upstate, South Carolina.
As a conductor, Jordan is known for his clear and sharp musical interpretation, coupled with a commanding presence and a precise baton technique. He strives to be fully present with the music and the ensemble, creating transformative musical experiences for performers and audiences alike.
In addition to his work as a conductor and composer, Jordan is deeply committed to music education and community engagement, using his talents to inspire and empower the next generation of musicians.
