Heidi Tumang Kelly-Tuason
Biography
Heidi T. Kelly-Tuason is a Filipina-American musician, born of immigrant parents from the Philippines, mainly with skills in piano and basic knowledge of guitar, ukulele, Filipino mandolin bandurria, and Filipino gongs kulintang. She is available as a freelance pianist for various events: musical theatre productions, weddings, cocktail receptions, choirs, singers, Catholic church services, etc. She started playing the piano when she was 6 years old, and has 30+ years experience of playing piano, 10 years of playing keyboard for musical theatre productions, 3 years of Jazz Band, 3 years of symphonic orchestra, 4 years of choir accompaniment, and 15 years of Catholic church liturgy accompaniment. She has above-average sight-reading skills and is learning to develop her ability to play by ear and improvise. She has played piano for over a dozen musicals and recently played for the musicals Godspell Jr and Seussical Jr at KIPP Scholar Academy in 2017, Hairspray at Stage 1 Theatre in July 2018, and Newsies at Alameda High School in 2020. She also plays for masses for her home church St. Augustine and other Catholic churches, including LMU, Dignity, Mount St Mary’s, St. Timothy’s, and occasionally, for her alma mater St. Ignatius and the Jesuit Retreat Center in Los Altos. She is currently seeking more opportunities to use her talents in piano, including for musicals, weddings, and Catholic church services. Additionally, Heidi is a digital storytelling workshop facilitator and recently got into documentary filmmaking. Her dream is to produce a musical theater production or full-length documentary about public health in the Filipino community.
