Biography

Emmanuel “Manny” Scott is a NYC based educator and musician originally from Atlanta, Georgia. His musical journey began in 5th grade where he joined his elementary school band and has since blossomed into a productive career. Throughout middle and high school, Manny was a top performer in his music programs and also made many district honor bands and became a member of both the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony and the Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra. In college, while earning his bachelor’s degree in music education at Tennessee State University, Manny was a part of the Grammy Award Winning TSU Aristocrat of Bands where he served as a Percussionist and Head Drum Major. Within his time at TSU he was able to perform at the NFL Hall of Fame Game, at the White house for President Barack Obama, the Percy Grainger Music Festival in Chicago and more. After graduating TSU Manny received a Masters Degree in Percussion Performance from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. At his time in Illinois, he was a part of the wind ensemble, percussion ensemble, jazz ensemble and the Principal Percussionist for the Southern Illinois Symphony Orchestra.

Upon moving to New York in 2020, Manny became a middle school band director and step coach in Brooklyn where he started both programs from the ground up. Within the few years he has been there, both the band and step team have grown exponentially in ability and numbers and are now the largest and most award winning programs at his school. Manny has also enjoyed a lucrative performing career in NY by being a member of the hit off broadway sensation STOMP from 2021 to 2023, and performing in various organizations like the Brooklyn Wind Symphony, the Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra, the NY Giants drum line the “G-Line”, Atomic Funk Project, and other opportunities around the tri-state area.
