Emily Hsiang
Biography
Emily is a singer/songwriter and composer from New Jersey whose writing spans jazz, indie-pop, and musical theater. After her first original songs went platinum in the Hsiang household as a grade-schooler, she really got into songwriting when performing at open mic nights in high school. Emily went on to major in music and anthropology at Haverford College, graduating in 2023. As her senior project, she wrote and directed an original one-act musical called Franny based on J.D. Sallinger’s short story of the same title. Other works include two indie-pop EPs and her first original musical theater concept album based on Disney’s The Incredibles. Emily has been lucky to perform her original songs at Haverford College’s Haverfest, at Green Room 42 with Cabaret on the Couch, and as opener for electronic-pop band Korine. Emily is also excited to be a 2024-2025 Maestra Mentorship Program mentee and a 2025 Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project participant!
