Biography
Emerson (he/they) is a violinist, educator, and music collaborator. They are known for performing contemporary, classical, folk, indie, and pop genres.
Emerson has performed with many orchestras including the Queer Urban Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of the Springs, the Pikes Peak Philharmonic, the Denver Young Artists Orchestra, and the UCCS Symphony. They have also performed at The Tank, Carnegie Hall, TheatreWorks, the Ent Center for the Arts, The Broadmoor, The Big Instrument, The Cuckuroo, and the Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts.
As an educator, Emerson has taught private and group lessons at Keiko Studios, Musipire, The Anselmo Academy, Trala Academy of Music, Colorado Springs Music School, and The Rocky Mountain Academy of Music. He has also taught beginner music and piano classes at K-12 schools throughout New York City. Emerson believes in a holistic teaching approach that emphasizes a strong foundation in technique, theory, and creativity.
Emerson received their B.A. in Visual and Performing Arts (concentration in violin performance) and Anthropology (concentration in culture and linguistics) in 2022. They received their M.A. in performance studies from NYU in 2024 studying the relationship between musicians and their instruments.
