Biography

Dr. Immanuel Tzemach Abraham is a 29 year old, African American, award-winning performer, composer, masterclass clinician, and teacher. He graduated magna cum laude with his Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance, and summa cum laude with his Master’s degree in Violin Performance, both from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

He graduated summa cum laude again with his Doctorate in Violin Performance from the University of Arizona. He also holds a certificate for exceptional service as a distinguished clinician from the Cochise Music Teacher’s Association, and will receive certification in online teaching this year from the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Programs and organizations recently featuring Dr. Abraham include the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), Southwest Strings, American String Teacher’s Association (ASTA), Tucson Film Festival, String Masters, Key To Change, SHAR Music, Fiddlershop, Community School of Music & Arts, The Entertainer magazine, Mind Over Finger podcast with Dr. Renée-Paule Gauthier, Violin Podcast with Eric Mrugala, Lovin’ Life in Tucson newspaper, Arizona Jewish Post newspaper, and the Arizona Daily Star newspaper.

He has had live audiences across seven countries to date, and is best-known for his versatility and creativity as a performer and composer. His compositional highlights include “The Abraham 24 Caprices for Solo Violin”, his violin quintet arrangement of “The Star-Spangled Banner”, and his string quartets “The Gilgamesh Quartet” and “Codex Janus”, featured in SHAR Music’s blog, “Writing Stories in Music”. He is also the author of “J.S. Bach’s Chaconne: A Performer- Composer’s Approach to Interpretation”.

Dr. Abraham is also the founder and director of The Violin Guild string forum, which hosts over 40,000 bowed string playing members, and is an artistic ambassador of Southwest Strings, W Mutes, and Ovation Press. He can be reached directly via his website at.
