Biography
DANIEL BASILIO-FERNÁNDEZ is a Dominican-Mexican bassist, composer, arranger, and music director currently residing in New York, NY.
His professional experience includes collaborations with Disney Theatrical Group and performances at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall and Dizzy’s Club at Lincoln Center. Daniel is pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music, focusing on double bass and composition, studying under renowned instructors including John Benitez, James Genus, and Darcy James Argue. He has received classical and jazz training, performing alongside prominent musicians such as Donny McCaslin, Ingrid Jensen, Jaleel Shaw, and Tony Kadleck. Daniel is an up-and-coming bassist in the musical theatre world, recently subbing for “Goddess” at the Public Theater (MD: Paul Byssainthe Jr) and playing for a workshop of Gloria Estefan’s highly-anticipated musical “Basura” (MD/MS: Cynthia Meng/Alex Lacamoire).
As both a composer and arranger, he works extensively in concert and commercial music. He has contributed to several award-winning independent films and live productions, such as the “Night of Inspiration” at Carnegie Hall in 2024. Additionally, he leads a large ensemble project known as the “Fellowship of Mortal Men,” a studio orchestra dedicated to his original compositions and arrangements. He also works extensively as a music copyist.
