Biography

DANIEL BASILIO-FERNÁNDEZ is a Dominican-Mexican bassist, composer, arranger, and music director currently residing in New York, NY.

His professional experience includes collaborations with Disney Theatrical Group and performances at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Apollo Theatre at the Victoria, and Dizzy’s Club at Lincoln Center. Daniel studied at the Manhattan School of Music, focusing on double bass and composition, studying under renowned instructors including John Benitez, James Genus, Michael Olatuja, and Darcy James Argue. As a sought-after performer on award-winning productions, he has worked with renowned music directors such as Ray Chew, Cynthia Meng, Alex Lacamoire, James Dodgson, Christopher Zuar, Paul Byssainthe Jr, David Loud, and many others. He regularly subs Broadway and off-Broadway shows such as Hell’s Kitchen, Oratorio For Living Things, and Goddess. He has received classical and jazz training, performing alongside prominent musicians such as Donny McCaslin, Ingrid Jensen, Jaleel Shaw, and Tony Kadleck.

As both a composer and arranger, he works extensively in concert and commercial music. He has contributed to several award-winning independent films and live productions, such as the “Night of Inspiration” at Carnegie Hall in 2024. Additionally, he leads a large ensemble project known as the “Fellowship of Mortal Men,” a studio orchestra dedicated to his original compositions and arrangements. He also works extensively as a music copyist, working with Emily Grishman Music Preparation.
