Biography

Azana Hightower started playing guitar at the age of 10 and has been playing for over 13 years. She began playing in church soon after picking up the guitar and became involved in music programs such as Berklee City Music in high school. She has done various performances and music competitions around Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey. She has performed at the Annual Berklee College of Music Gala three times doing tributes for Nile Rodgers, Chaka Khan, and performing with Madagascar artist, Niu Raza. She performed in Berklee masterclasses with visiting artists such as Georgia Anne Muldrow and Leni Stern. She also worked with R&B and Jazz artist Ledisi in the Ledisi Ensemble at Berklee. Currently, she plays in various churches around Boston for services and events, as well as in bands and a variety of ensembles and shows at Berklee College of Music. She also performs in events, concerts, and musicals in a variety of venues in and beyond Boston—including arts and academic institutions, churches, and restaurants—and in various musical styles, including gospel, R&B, jazz, pop, musical theater, funk, and rock. Additionally, she works at Baptist Church of All Nations as a live sound engineer.This Spring, Azana will graduate from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Production and Engineering. She plans to embark on a multifaceted career in the music industry and non-profit sector.
