Biography
Anthony Sertel Dean is a Turkish-Nanticoke sound artist, educator, and technologist focused on telling stories of community and self. His work pulls from electroacoustic practices, oral history, and experimental performance to compose scores and soundscapes. In addition to composing works, Anthony performs with live electronics (and occasionally strings)
Anthony’s work has be heard in gallery installations (Gwangju Biennale, Fridman Gallery, Swiss Institute), theater (Kennedy Center, New Victory Theater, Public Theater, The Kitchen), film (AAIFF, Busan International Film Festival), and radio (WNYC). They have taught at Wesleyan University, multiple NYC public schools, Materials for the Arts, and spoken on panels about the future of theater design and contemporary indigenous performance.
Anthony has an MFA in Sound Art from Columbia University and a BA in Music & Theater from Wesleyan University.
