Biography

As a professional vocalist and pianist, her performing career has brought her to music festivals and venues across the USA to open for artists like The Roots, Típica 73, Fania All-Stars and Tito Puente. She has performed onstage at The Blue Note, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Central Park Summerstage, Tuscon Performing Arts Center, TriBeCa Performing Arts Center, NJPAC, and MASS MoCA amongst many others.

Most recently, Angela was the music director for Jesus Christ Superstar at PACE University (Fall 2024). As a music director she has worked on various shows for Prospect Theater Company, Teatro Latea, Broadway Housing, Green Room 42, Ziegfeld Ballroom and The Chelsea Factory amongst others.

As a composer, she has written for the musicals Olivia O. (NAMT recommended musical, NYC premiere in Sept. 2024), and She Sings Me Home (Featured on Playbill’s Songwriter’s Series, 2024 MAP Fund Grant winner). She has also written numerous one-off pieces for podcasts and cabarets, composed for two short films: Chicken for Dinner (Best Experimental Film, New York State International Film Festival), and The Stamp (Best Comedy Film, TOFFF Festival), and released two albums which have been featured on NPR and reviewed in All About Jazz, Cadence Magazine and TimeOutNY.

As an arranger and orchestrator she has worked on: She Sings Me Home, 4x Latine Musical Showcase, Prospect Theater Co.’s Mixtape Series, and Y Procura Verte Feliz as well debuted numerous salsa arrangements with the The Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra.

In addition, Angela has extensive knowledge of working with singers, and has performed in several operas including the NY Premiere of L’Enfant et les Sortileges (directed by Metropolitan Opera director Robin Guarino, with english libretto by Sheldon Harnick) and The Old Maid and the Thief (Frederick Lowe Theater).

She holds a B.Mus. from New York University and has also studied latin/jazz piano and at Berklee School of Music and the Harlem Conservatory. Angela is also a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop, as well as a member of ASMAC and MAESTRA.

Angela was also a competitive distance runner and qualified to run in the United States Olympic Trials marathon in 2020.
