Alyssa Regent

Biography

Alyssa’s passion for music started at a young age. Born and raised on the islands of Guadeloupe (FR), she has always been fascinated with all styles and genres of music. After graduating from high school with a french baccalaureate in Language and Literature she flew to New York to discover a new culture and deepen her knowledge of the English language.

In New-York her passion for music was revived, she attended the Evening Division at the Julliard School in 2014 and in 2016 she applied to Hunter College to pursue a B.A in Music and in 2018 she started private lessons in composition under the guidance of Shafer Mahoney,Daniel Fox, Ryan Keberle and David Fulmer. As a performer she has participated in piano recitals around the city (Steinway Hall, Harrison&Faust pianos, etc). She took part in many projects produced by the school and composed music for her one-hour graduation recital. She has some experience in music administration as she interned for the Lullaby Project at Carnegie Hall (2018). In 2019 she wrote her first chamber Opera, “The Blue Bird” based on a play by Maurice Maeterlinck.

Alyssa recently graduated from Hunter College with a B.A in Music with a minor in English (creative writing) and is now pursuing an M.A in composition and conducting. She has experience in music directing/orchestration and music editing as she was the assistant music director and part of the orchestrator team for the Intonation Club’s production of EDGES by Pasek&Paul. She is currently writing her own musical.
Aside from composing, Alyssa is a movie buff, loves to cook and read.
