Biography
Alec Powell is an award-winning music educator, conductor, performer, and composer. A graduate of Utah Valley University (B.M. Music Education, 2017), Alec was recognized as a Dean’s Choice graduate in the School of the Arts. He was named one of Yamaha’s “40 Under 40” educators in 2022 and was a quarterfinalist for the Grammy Music Educator Award in both 2025 and 2026.
As a composer, Alec contributed original music to Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical, the viral Broadway benefit that raised more than $2 million for The Actors Fund. His work has also been featured in the Drama League’s Welcome Back to Broadway Gala, including a composition performed by Tituss Burgess.
Alec has served as Associate Music Director for Salt Lake Acting Company’s production of Passing Strange and has performed with Hale Centre Theatre and The Ruth (Utah)
