Biography

Alex Mak is a guitarist, producer, and educator based in New York City.

He is the guitar chair and guitar programmer for the Tony-nominated Broadway hit Titanique, racking up over 600 performances since he started playing the show Off-Broadway in 2022. With the show, Alex has performed on the Tony Awards and Late Night with Seth Meyers.

In 2024, he started working with breakout pop artist Mark Ambor, initially as a touring guitarist and bassist, and now as his music director. With Mark, Alex has played State Farm Stadium opening for Ed Sheeran, headline tours and festivals across Europe and North America, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and New Year’s Eve in Times Square. Alex co-produced Mark’s Billboard Hot 100 charting cover of Run Rudolph Run, as well as his upcoming second album.

Alex attended Berklee College of Music on a scholarship, studying with teachers including Bruce Bartlett, David Tronzo, and David Fiuczynski. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2022 with a BM in Guitar Performance and Contemporary Writing & Production. At Berklee, he played student film scoring sessions, performed and arranged for the 2022 Commencement Concert at Agganis Arena, and received both the William Leavitt and Hyatt Awards.

As an educator, Alex has led clinics at Berklee and maintains a private teaching studio. He recorded the guitar tracks for Yamaha Music Japan’s Arranging for Contemporary Music textbook by Lee Abe.
