Biography
Originally from New York City, Neil Cole is a full time freelance musician based in Los Angeles. He plays english horn and oboe with the San Gabriel Valley Symphony, and previously was a member of the Sequoia Symphony, San Fernando Valley Symphony, and California Young Artist Symphony. He has performed with many other local orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Reno Philharmonic, and the Chamber Orchestra of St. Matthew. A big fan of Broadway, Neil was the lead woodwind player on the National Broadway Tour of Elf the Musical, and has performed in over 40 musical theatre productions. Playing many of the major venues in Los Angeles, Neil has worked as an ensemble member backing artists such as Anderson. Paak, T-Pain, John Legend, Dr. Dre, and Tom Morello.
Neil currently coaches woodwinds at Granada Hills Charter High School, Malibu High School, and Malibu Middle School. Previously, he served as the Interim Professor of Oboe at Concordia University-Irvine, Woodwinds Coach at the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra, and more than 30 school band programs .
He earned degrees in music performance from Georgia State University, University of California, Los Angeles and University of Southern California.
