Biography
Sól Griffith is a songwriter, music director, and independent artist based in New York. Her creativity is ever-evolving. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Sól first began her career as an independent artist with her debut EP Reflection under the moniker Kayla Rose, followed by her second EP Moonshots. Currently, Sól is crafting her debut album, BLACK AS THUNDER, a multimedia project exploring the preservation of a Black Southern oral tradition and the transformative power of surrender through life’s storms.
Beyond her solo work, Sól is one half of the songwriting duo Griffith and Orr, creating music for both screen and stage. Sól’s passion for songwriting for film, TV, and musical theater has also led her to further develop her skillsets in film scoring and music direction. As the music director of Zoma Studios, she leads the music team for the 2D animated horror short film MMANWU, which blends Igbo-Nigerian culture, magical realism, and horror.
With each project, Sól ‘s artistry continues to expand, giving voice to new stories while staying true to her mission of inspiring curiosity, care, and connection in all who interact with her and her work. Whether through her own music, songwriting collaborations, or leadership in music direction, Sól builds worlds that inspire empathy and lasting impact.
