Biography
Fahim Ahmed (he/him) is a Bangladeshi-American music director, woodwind doubler, keyboard programmer, and actor based in Cambridge, MA.
Most recently, Fahim was a music assistant for the U.S. premiere of Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) at the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.). He was also a music assistant for the world premiere of Gatsby: An American Myth at the A.R.T., working with music supervisor Kimberly Grigsby and composers Florence Welch and Thomas Bartlett.
Fahim has music directed productions of In the Heights; Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812; Jekyll & Hyde, Spring Awakening, and most recently, Jesus Christ Superstar (MD/Conductor) at the Loeb Drama Center with the Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club.
As a woodwind doubler, Fahim plays the bassoon, oboe, English horn, Eb, Bb, and bass clarinet, soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophone, and flute. In college, he played for productions of Into the Woods (Bassoon), Jekyll & Hyde (Bassoon), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Flute, Oboe, Bb Clarinet, Alto Sax), Little Shop of Horrors (Eb Clarinet, Bb Clarinet, Alto Sax), Pippin (Flute, Bb Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Oboe, English Horn), Aida (Oboe, English Horn), and 9 to 5 (Flute, Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax).
Fahim has extensive experience with keyboard programming in MainStage, having programmed for Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 (Keys 2), Jekyll & Hyde (Keys 1, 2, & 3), Footloose (Keys 2), Aida (Keys 1, 2, & 3), Pippin (Keys 2), Anastasia (Keys 1 & 2), Jesus Christ Superstar (Keys 1, 2, & 3), 9 to 5 (Keys 1 & 2), and The Addams Family (Keys 1 & 2).
As an actor, Fahim has performed in the Harvard College Asian Student Arts Project’s productions of OUT: An Asian American Musical (April 2023) and Legally Blonde (October 2021), as well as productions of Something Rotten (November 2022) and Anastasia (November 2024). Outside of musical theatre, Fahim also performed with the Harvard University Choir, Ferris Choral Fellows (Tenor I), and Harvard University Bach Society Orchestra (Bassoon).
Fahim recently graduated from Harvard College with an A.B. in Neuroscience and a secondary in Chemistry. As a research assistant at Northeastern University’s Music, Imaging, and Neural Dynamics Lab, he wrote his senior thesis on the relationship between music and emotion differentiation. He is currently studying at the Harvard Graduate School of Education as a Chemistry Teacher Candidate in the Teaching and Teacher Leadership Ed.M. program.
