Ko Tanaka
Biography
Ko Tanaka is a Japanese composer, conductor, and musical theater writer based in New York City.
Ko has been writing music for 40+ musicals and shows since 2012 and his creative prowess extends beyond Japan to The United States. He composed the Off-Broadway musical “Poupelle of Chimney Town,” adapted from the bestselling Japanese picture book, which received critical acclaim and sold over 40,000 tickets during its Tokyo premiere, and following Osaka performances. The show’s success led to a highly anticipated debut at Signature Theater in New York City in February 2024, signaling a promising future for Ko’s theatrical endeavors.
After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Ko’s talent has attracted attention within the music production industry, earning him a role as an associate keyboard programmer for Grammy Award-winning music production company Strange Cranium. His contributions to numerous Off-Broadway, Broadway, and regional theater productions highlight his versatility and commitment to excellence.
