Biography

Jenia Marquez is a music director, conductor, and music assistant based in New York City. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton University with a BA in Linguistics and minors in Conducting (choral/musical theatre) and French. She is the Director of the Trenton Youth Orchestra and is a vocal/string ensemble Teaching Artist at Intempo Music in Stamford, CT. Recently, she worked as the music direction fellow/music assistant on the first national tour of Hell’s Kitchen and as the music assistant for the 2025 Dramatists Guild Foundation gala. Outside of music, she serves as a Research Assistant with the Computing Integrated Teaching (CITE) Initiative at the City University of New York.

While at Princeton, she was the President and Student Conductor of the Princeton University Glee Club, Princeton’s oldest choir, and the Assistant Music Director of the Princeton Tigerlilies, the oldest all-female-identifying a cappella group at Princeton founded by some of the first women at the university. She served as the Music Manager of the Princeton University Players, and has music directed and conducted several shows per year, including Onegin, To All The Babies I’ve Killed Before: A Love-Hate Letter to Storytelling (student senior thesis production), Something Rotten!, A Chorus Line, Ghost Quartet, Carrie, and Into the Woods. Additionally, she was the Student Leader with Trenton Youth Singers and the interim conductor of Trenton Youth Orchestra, ensembles comprising Princeton undergraduates and Trenton high and middle school students. Outside of music directing, Jenia worked as a Fellow at the Writing Center and a French translator for the Princeton University Language Project (PULP).
