Martín Alexander Arellano
Biography
Martín Alexander Arellano is an active conductor and composer from California, USA. Alex is the founder and current Music Director of the Central California Youth Wind Ensemble based in Turlock, CA that premiered its first season in 2015. Alex holds a Bachelors in Music Theory & Composition from the University of Miami: Frost School of Music, a diploma in Orchestral Conducting from the Strasbourg Conservatoire in France, and in May of 2023, Alex acquired his Master of Arts in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Iowa.
Alex has worked on both opera and musical theater productions. While at Iowa, Alex conducted performances of O’Farrell & Kirkpatrick’s Something Rotten!, Domenico Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto, and Gilbert & Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore.
Prior to his time at Iowa, Alex conducted runs of Sondheim’s Into the Woods and Dickstein & Howland’s Little Women with CaneStage Theater Company in Coral Gables, and Rogers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! with the Oakdale High School Drama Department in Oakdale, CA.
As an instrumentalist, Alex has performed as a multiple woodwinds player in productions of Heathers & Little Shop of Horrors.
