Biography
Melissa holds the cello chair for the Broadway Musical from Alicia Keys, ‘Hell’s Kitchen’. She has also performed in the American Ballet Theater Orchestra, American Symphony, the Discovery Orchestra, Orchestra Lumos, Harlem Chamber Orchestra and the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra. Other Broadway credits include ‘All In’, ‘How to Dance in Ohio’, ‘New York New York’, ‘Pal Joey’ (NYCity CenterEncores) and ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’.
In 2018, Melissa began composing music for cello and piano and cello duo. During the pandemic shutdown, she ventured beyond duos and started recorded multiple cello tracks with Midi which she compiled into an album called Cello Flight. Listen at melissawestgate.com.
