Biography

It was my mother and my first grade after-school counselor, Mr. Joey, that were responsible for my connection to musical theatre.  I was raised in the small town of Williamston, North Carolina, and my after-school counselor was a member of the local community players.  All my friends raved about Mr. Joey’s role as Judd Frye in “Oklahoma”.  I wasn’t about to be left out of the experience.  I asked my mother if I could “go see Mr. Joey”.  I did not know that “Oklahoma” was one of my mother’s favorite musicals.  We attended a performance, and I was so enamored that my mother rented the movie version the next day.  A few years later, I was blown away by the classic films, “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” and “The Wiz”.  Throughout the years, my musical development was crafted by the works of Quincy Jones, David Foster, Jam & Lewis, Babyface, John Mayer, Pharrell, Timbaland, Jay-Z, j. Cole, and Bill Conti.  I am a composer who utilizes the power of songs and stories.  Musical Theatre is one of the various outlets best suited for my art.
