Biography

Germono Toussaint is a composer, arranger, playwright, producer, and immersive storyteller whose work spans theater, film, documentary, live performance, and emerging media. Drawing from orchestral, musical theater, gospel, soul, house, and African diasporic traditions, he creates emotionally driven work that explores identity, spirituality, memory, resilience, and transformation.

As a composer, arranger, and producer, he has created music for artists and productions including Sistas: The Musical, Hoodoo Love by Katori Hall, Bring The Beat Back, and concerts at 54 Below, Joe’s Pub, and the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. His original albums include Brown Liquor & Blessed Oil and Project 1:11 with Harriett D. Foy.

As a playwright and librettist, his work has been developed and presented by organizations including National Black Theatre, The Fire This Time Festival, Musical Theatre Factory, CultureHub, Hi-ARTS, and The Tank. He is the creator of The Last Gatekeeper, an immersive Afro-futurist music-theater experience exploring Black queer lineage, spirituality, and liberation through music, projection, and emerging technologies.

He has held residencies with CultureHub, Musical Theatre Factory, Hi-ARTS, and others, and has been recognized as a semifinalist for the National Playwrights Conference, National Music Theater Conference, and Creative Capital Award.

He holds a BFA in Music Composition from Cardinal Stritch University and has studied advanced orchestration with Academy Award-winning composer Nathan Currier.
