Biography

Josh Gonzalez is an NYC-based music director, pianist, keyboardist, and arranger.

He is passionate about developing new works that center diversity, equity, and Latine stories.

Josh is widely recognized not only for his musical expertise, but also for his ability to cultivate a collaborative and uplifting creative environment. He leads with empathy and attentiveness, consistently drawing out the strengths of those around him while maintaining a strong focus on detail and artistic integrity.

He has been deeply involved in the musical evolution of Buena Vista Social Club—from workshops to Off-Broadway and now Broadway—where he currently serves as the Music Associate, Sub Conductor, and the Principal Standby for the role of Young Rubén.

He frequently appears onstage at Hadestown as a sub conductor and recently performed in Suffs as a keyboardist and accordionist. From 2022 to 2023, he served as the Music Director for the National Tour of Tootsie.

Josh is honored to have contributed to New York City’s iconic Shakespeare in the Park tradition as the Associate Music Director for Public Works’ acclaimed productions of The Tempest and As You Like It, bringing music to life in one of the city’s most celebrated cultural experiences.

Raised in Miami, Josh is influenced by the sounds of his Cuban-Dominican heritage. Josh grew up in the church as a latin percussionist and pianist, eventually finding joy in serving as a Music Director and Pianist for Northland Church in Orlando. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music and a Master’s in Management from the University of Florida.
